Over Amoeba
Amoeba is a single-celled organism that lives free from the world and survives by isolating itself. This film debut by Siyou Tan is about the friendship between four outsiders, four young women who try to live freely in the world. Choo has left school and is transferred to an elite and authoritarian girls' school in Singapore. There, she forms a friendship with Vanessa, Sofia, and Gina. The group of friends is inspired by stories of triad gangs that rebelled against the authorities in colonial Singapore, and the group secretly forms their own gang. They are inseparable, until life creates cracks in their friendschap.

Kriterion is een onafhankelijke bioscoop en café aan de Roetersstraat, opgericht in 1945 en sindsdien gerund door studenten. Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog begonnen door voormalig verzetsstudenten, heeft de plek haar zelfstandige karakter door de decennia behouden. Het programma combineert actuele speelfilms met klassiekers, retrospectives en thematische series. Het café is ook buiten filmtijden open en vormt een ontmoetingsplek voor buurtbewoners en studenten.
