Over DE JOHNSONS
De Johnsons is a legendary, bizarre and unforgettable Dutch cult film from 1992 (103 minutes, Dutch with English subtitles) by Rudolf van der Berg, returning to the big screen at WORM. The film follows twenty-one years after the birth of seven brothers who have been killing since the age of seven. Professor Keller is summoned by a government agency to assist in their treatment and uncovers a link to an ancient Indian cult aiming to unleash evil and destroy Earth. Photographer Victoria Lucas travels to a remote location for a shoot, bringing along her fourteen-year-old daughter Emalee, who is undergoing treatment for gruesome nightmares. They camp near the facility where the seven brothers are held, until the brothers escape and begin hunting Emalee. What dark connection ties them together? Before the screening, film scholar Dani van Duin will interview Esmée de la Bretonière, who played the fourteen-year-old daughter in the film. She will share fascinating behind-the-scenes stories, personal memories, and anecdotes from this extremely rare Dutch cult production. After the film, there will be time for questions—a chance you won't get again anytime soon. This is an evening full of film history, campy horror-chaos and a special guest who experienced it all firsthand.
